Another beautiful day in Skuleskogens Nationalpark

Summer is a great time to go hiking, and since I had my cousin and wife visiting we thought it would be prefect to hike up to sklåttdalsskrevan (gorge) in Skuleskogen National Park. The weather was beautiful, so it was bound to be a good day. We have chosen the South entrance, which I hadn’t used for a while. As always, the hike up was reasonably easy, with endless boardwalks helping a lot, while at the same time protecting the environment.

Lots of boardwalks

Just before you get to the gorge there is a rock on top of the trail - sort of our own little Kjeragbolten ;-)

Then you reach slåttdalsskrevan, the gorge, which is impressive. Sadly, you can’t enter it any longer due to safety concerns (only 2 years ago you were still allowed to walk straight through it), but it is still just as beautiful. And a bit further up you have the most stunning views over the park and archipelago!

Great views from the top

Obsessed with berries, of course I had to prepare a little snack to enjoy with the stunning views. So, I made cinnamon milk rice with mixed berries - oh so delicious, and perfect to take along on a hike or for a picnic!

For the return we chose to climb a bit further to the top of slåttdalsberget, which is great fun to do. Not very far, but some nice sections with steel ropes (via ferrata), and soon you walk across the top with great views again.

From there, we descended back down and to the carpark at the South entry. This was a great day with lots of sunshine and good company. It was also the day I have seen the most visitors in the park. For here, it almost felt crowded, but of course it was not. We are just spoilt here and on most hikes I don’t meet anybody at all. The hike was a total of 8.8km.
